The Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH) founded in 2000 is one of the leading research centres in Greece and listed among the TOP-20 E.U. research institutions with the highest participation in competitive research grants. CERTH is essentially a self-supported Research Centre generating an average annual turnover of ~ € 25 Million coming from bilateral industrial research contracts, competitive research projects and government institutional funding. ore than 700 people work at CERTH with the majority being scientists. CERTH has received numerous awards and distinctions such as the European Descartes Prize, the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant, Microsoft International Contest Prize, the Trading Agents Competition Award and many more and is listed among the Top-20 of the EU’s Research Centres with the highest participation in HORIZON 2020 competitive research grants. Information Technologies Institute (ITI) was founded in 1998, as a non-profit organisation, under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology of Greece, with its head office located in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since 2000, it is a founding member of the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), also supervised by the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology. ITI is currently one of the leading Institutions of Greece and is conducting basic and applied research in established and emerging areas in the field of Informatics, Telematics and Telecommunications. It is one of the largest IT research centres in Northern Greece with well-organized facilities, highly qualified personnel and a reputation as a top-level research IT institute in Greece and abroad with a long experience in numerous European and national Research and Development (R&D) projects. The Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Lab one of the biggest ITI labs, has extensive experience and expertise in machine learning, computer vision, semantic multimedia analysis, indexing and retrieval, social media and big data analytics, knowledge structures, reasoning and personalisation for multimedia applications, eHealth, smart cities and environmental and security applications. MKlab expertise has been cultivated and blossomed through its leading and cooperative role in several EU multimedia related projects. In the recent years, the team has coordinated and participated in more than 20 European and National research projects in the areas of multimedia processing, information extraction and social media monitoring and analysis.
Το ΕΚΕΤΑ είναι ένα αυτοσυντηρούμενο ερευνητικό κέντρο με μέσο ετήσιο τζίρο της τάξης των ~ € 22 εκατ. που προέρχονται από διμερείς συμβάσεις βιομηχανικής έρευνας, ανταγωνιστικά ερευνητικά προγράμματα, και κρατική χρηματοδότηση. Αυτή τη στιγμή το ΕΚΕΤΑ απασχολεί περισσότερους από 700 εργαζομένους με την πλειοψηφία αυτών να είναι επιστήμονες. Το ΕΚΕΤΑ έχει λάβει πολλά βραβεία και διακρίσεις, όπως το European Descartes Prize, το European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant,το Microsoft International Contest Prize, το Trading Agents Competition Award καθώς και πολλά άλλα και συγκαταλέγεται στα 20 καλύτερα ερευνητικά κέντρα της Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) με τη μεγαλύτερη συμμετοχή στα Η2020 προγράμματα ανταγωνιστικών ερευνητικών επιχορηγήσεων. Το Ινστιτούτο Τεχνολογιών Πληροφορικής και Επικοινωνιών (ΙΠΤΗΛ) του ΕΚΕΤΑ ιδρύθηκε το 1998 ως ένας μη κερδοσκοπικός οργανισμός υπό την αιγίδα της ΓΓΕΤ, με έδρα την Θεσσαλονίκη. Από το 2000 υπήρξε ιδρυτικό μέλος του ΕΚΕΤΑ. Το Εργαστήριο Γνώσης, Πολυμέσων και Κοινωνικών Δικτύων (MKLab) ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα εργαστήρια του ΙΠΤΗΛ, διαθέτει σημαντική εμπειρία και επιστημονική εξειδίκευση στις ερευνητικές περιοχές της μηχανικής μάθησης, τεχνητής όρασης, σημασιολογικής αναπαράστασης δεδομένων και ανάλυσης δεδομένων μεγάλου όγκου με εφαρμογές για τη βιομηχανία, τις έξυπνες πόλεις, την υγεία, την ασφάλεια και την κοινωνία. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, το MKLab έχει συντονίσει και συμμετάσχει σε περισσότερα από 87 Ευρωπαϊκά και Εθνικά ερευνητικά προγράμματα στους παραπάνω τομείς.
